JUNEAU -- State game officials in Juneau have killed a black bear that had been captured downtown Wednesday.
Alaska Department of Fish and Game area management biologist Ryan Scott tells the Juneau Empire the decision to euthanize it was made when officials found it was the same bear they had relocated earlier this summer.
The 250-pound bear was killed shortly after it was shot with a tranquilizer dart on top of the building housing the Heritage Coffee Co.
Officials had to carry the bear down stairs, where it was put into a waiting pickup as a crowd of residents and tourists watched.
