The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce honored the winners of its annual business awards Friday at its 55th Gold Pan banquet.
Winners and runners-up "were chosen for their above-and-beyond level of commitment to Anchorage, both on a business and community service level," said Chamber board chairwoman Sandra Heffern.
The winner for entrepreneurial excellence was Ron Duncan, CEO and founder of telecom and cable company General Communication Inc.
The winner for overall business excellence was the in-state airline company Era Alaska.
Advertising agency Nerland Agency was selected for distinguished community service by an individual or a small business or organization.
Distinguished community service by a large business or organization went to telecommunications company Alaska Communications.
Dan Newman, an executive with the advertising sales department of KTUU Channel 2, was named the chamber's volunteer of the year.
