FAIRBANKS -- A 37-year-old Fairbanks man died Thursday morning in a head-on collision northeast of the city.

Alaska State Troopers say Joshua Hockin, heading east on Chena Hot Springs Road, crossed the center line in a sedan at Mile 6 and crashed into a pickup driven by 53-year-old John Antonuk.

Hockin died at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Antonuk was not injured.

Troopers tell the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that the sedan was heavily damaged in the 8:30 a.m. crash.

An emergency crew had to cut the car's roof off to reach Hockin.
