JUNEAU -- A 55-year-old Juneau man suspected of stealing a teenager's backpack has been arrested on charges of theft, robbery and impersonating a police officer.

The Juneau Empire reports Larry Alan Reiger was arrested Thursday.

Police say he approached a 16-year-old boy at about 9 a.m. near the Travelodge Hotel parking lot, told the teen he was a police officer and demanded the backpack.

Police say the boy asked the suspect for identification and the man kicked the teen in the leg, grabbed the pack and ran off.

Police say an officer confronted Reiger, still carrying the backpack, a few minutes later.

Reiger reportedly wrestled with the officer and was subdued with the assistance of a second officer using a stun gun.
