Hear, hear!! I have to agree with Mr. Orr (Letters, Sept. 15). It is very annoying to have to choose a language. We are, after all entitled to the courtesy of assuming we speak English. If one does not speak or understand the language, I suggest taking a class or go back to their country of origin.

The companies who have this option of "press 1 for English" -- it is obvious they do not wish to have the people of America do business with them.

While we are on the subject, why do American companies have representatives on the other end of the phone who are in another country? In addition, barely speak English themselves. Try to get tech support from an American company over the phone; you will get someone in India.
