Alaska ties for 30th in golf championship

September 21, 2012

Adam Baxter, Kevin Daniels and Paul Blanche teamed for Alaska's best finish in the U.S. Golf Association Men's State Team Championship, a three-day event that wrapped Friday at the Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, N.J.

The trio finished tied for 30th, bettering a 44th-place finish two years ago. Baxter, of Fairbanks, led the way with a 54-hole total of 226, good enough to tie for 35th place on an individual leaderboard of 156 players. Anchorage's Daniels and Blanche shot 239 and 260, respectively.

At 2-over par, the New York team won the championship, which used each team's two lowest scores from each day to determine final results. Alaska finished tied with Oklahoma at 34-over. Find full results at USGA.org.
