Unbeaten Eielson holds its No. 1 spot for mid and small schools.

Unbeaten Palmer High remained No. 1 among large-school football teams for the third straight week and unbeaten Eielson topped mid- and small-school teams for the seventh straight week in the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network polls released Monday.

Defending state champion Service remained No. 2 among large schools, North Pole moved up one spot to No. 3, South climbed one position to No. 4 and West dropped two spots to No. 5.

Railbelt champion Palmer (7-0) can close an undefeated regular season Friday night when it entertains Wasilla in the annual Potato Bowl. Service can wrap the Cook Inlet Conference title and go undefeated in league when it finishes the regular season with a rare Thursday night game against West at Anchorage Football Stadium.

Eielson (6-0) has been No. 1 in the mid- and small-school division since the first week of the season after being ranked No. 3 in the preseason poll.

Soldotna remained No. 2 for the fifth straight week, and Nikiski and Thunder Mountain held onto the Nos. 3 and 4 spots, respectively. Homer moved into the poll for the first time all regular season at No. 5 -- the Mariners were ranked No. 3 in the preseason poll.
