Another wave of Anchorage-based soldiers is set to return from a nearly year-long deployment in Afghanistan.
The Army says in a release that about 300 soldiers will return Thursday morning to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
About 3,500 soldiers from the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division were deployed to eastern Afghanistan about a year ago. Of those, 500 have previously returned.
There are about 2,700 soldiers remaining in Afghanistan. They are expected back in Anchorage on additional flights over the next three weeks.
