Talkeetna water supply declared safe after flood

Published: September 28, 2012

A spokeswoman for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough says water in Talkeetna has been pronounced safe to drink.

Public affairs director Patty Sullivan says water tests on the Talkeetna public water system came back with negative results for e.coli and total coliform. Sullivan says by email that the test was for the public water system only and not for private wells.

Talkeetna was among Southcentral Alaska towns hit hard by floodwater last week.

The community of nearly 900 is 115 miles north of Anchorage. The community is at the confluence of the Susitna, Talkeetna and Chulitna rivers.
