Leah Swiss' 17 digs and seven kills led Dimond in a 25-17, 26-24, 25-19 win over Eagle River in a Cook Inlet Conference volleyball match Friday at Dimond High. Dimond passed the ball well, with Anastasia Lavern-Tosi dishing 10 assists and Megan Romo and Janelle Feller combining for 10 more. Sierra Afoa added six kills for the Lynx.
Morgan Wohrle led Eagle River with 17 digs and seven kills and Elexa Walker distributed 17 assists.
South 3, West 0
Kayla Sims led South with 26 assists Friday to help the Wolverines to a 25-12 25-11 28-26 CIC volleyball victory over visiting West.
South's Shelby Little recorded 10 kills and three blocks and Lauren Hoffman added six kills and five aces. Christa Leader turned in 16 digs and Mikayla Sweet racked seven kills.
Nicole Meyers paced West with 11 assists to go with Rita Dexter's three blocks.
Bartlett 3, Chugiak 2
The Bartlett Golden Bears came out of hibernation in the third set Friday to rally past Chugiak 12-25, 18-25, 25-13, 25-22, 15-9 in a CIC volleyball match at Bartlett.
Celeste Manumaleuna slammed 14 kills for Bartlett, which got eight kills from Autumn Plews and seven from Raven Agraviador. Strong service boosted the Golden Bears, who got seven aces from Agraviador, five from Plews and four from Manumaleuna.
Chugiak was led by Kathleen Gill's 27 digs and three aces and Rachel Toph's 34 assists.
East 3, Service 2
East survived a five-set thriller against Service on Friday, winning the CIC match at East 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12.
The T-birds threatened to win it in four sets after taking a big lead, "but Briana Toomer served about 10 in a row on us," said East coach Jim Dooley, whose team went on to prevail in the fifth set.
Toomer finished with seven aces for Service. Morgan Christy had a big game at the net with eight blocks and seven kills, Krysten Fischer chipped in 18 digs and Erin Hess put up 34 assists.
East's Nadia Frank-Macon racked up a match-high 16 kills. Taria Page added 10 and Sydney Smith eight, while Lauren Lauruhn led the T-bird defense with 14 digs.
