JUNEAU -- The owner of a Douglas bar is charged with failing to pay city sales taxes.
The Juneau Empire says the City and Borough of Juneau is seeking from 55-year-old Patrick M. Peterson more than $42,000 in restitution, including unremitted sales taxes, penalties and interest.
Peterson, who owns PP's Douglas Inn, is charged with 16 state misdemeanor counts of violating Juneau's uniform sales tax code. According to charging documents, Peterson failed to file sales tax returns for periods in 2009 through 2011.
He was set for a September jury trial, but now is set for a change-of-plea hearing on Friday.
Peterson's attorney John Leque, did not return phone calls from the Empire seeking comment.
