FAIRBANKS -- Police in Galena say a woman was choked until she was unconscious and a second woman has been charged with felony assault.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jenelle M. Semaken was taken into custody Friday.
Prosecutors say the injured woman had bruise marks around her neck, a stab wound to her shoulder and a cheek injury that may have come from a bite.
The victim told police she did not remember being stabbed or bitten.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports the woman's injuries required surgery at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
The injured woman told Galena police that she was drinking vodka at Semaken's home when she was choked.
