Why is it every budget submitted by any mayor has cuts to police and fire at the top of the list? Is it not the responsibility of the city of Anchorage to provide police and fire services along with road maintenance? If that is so, why cut police $6.6 million, fire $4.9 million and only cut transportation, parks and rec, and libraries by $5.8 million? Shouldn't those departments be cut to the maximum before you cut the vital services?

It seems to me that would be the logical thing to do but logic and government can not co-exist.
