Unalaska fish plant workers charged with running gambling ring

Four women and a man working at the Unisea processing plant in Unalaska have been charged by police with running a "paycheck poker" gambling operation that involved hundreds of employees, reports KUCB. And it wasn't like your friendly small-stakes game of poker among friends, police said.

Sgt. Jennifer Shockley explains the rules.

“Essentially, everybody antes up some sum of money. Twenty dollars was what seemed to be kind of the standard amount, but not the only amount,” says Shockley. “Your poker hand was determined by some numbers on your paycheck. That correlates somehow to cards in a poker hand.”
