Benefit for injured skier on Sunday

A fundraiser for a 13-year-old junior skier who was critically injured when she was hit by a car while riding her bike will be held Sunday at Alaska Pacific University.

The event is a benefit for Mary Robicheaux, a student at Winterberry Charter School. Robicheaux was riding her bike through a crosswalk on Northern Lights Blvd. on Aug. 29 when she was hit by a car.

The 5-kilometer race will be held on ski trails and single-track trails on the APU sports field. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the race begins at 11 a.m.

Donations will be accepted in lieu of entry fees.
