— Police are looking for a Fairbanks woman missing in Anchorage for about 10 days.

The woman, Mary Ann Alexie, came to Anchorage Oct. 9 to attend the Alaska Career College, but police say the 33-year-old never showed up at school.

"This young lady came down to go to school. She didn't show up and didn't contact family, so it's out of character," police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said.

Alexie called either a friend or a family member about 3 a.m. Oct. 10 saying she was somewhere in Spenard, Parker said.

"She sounded disoriented, and that was alarming," Parker said. "She didn't know where to go, and that's all they heard. (They) can't get a hold of her. Cellphone's not working."

Alexie is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 786-8900.
