Eagle River volleyball team trips Ketchikan

— Eagle River used a balance attack to stop Ketchikan 25-24, 19-25, 25-21, 25-17 Wednesday in a nonconference volleyball match at Eagle River.

Brianna Norris, Gabbi LeCates and Morgen Wohrle each delivered nine kills for the Wolves, who were playing their last match before next week's Cook Inlet Conference tournament.

On Tuesday, Eagle River lost to East in a four-set CIC match at Eagle River. Morgan Hill's 19 kills led East to the 25-13, 21-25, 25-18, 25-15 victory.

The win gave East the No. 6 seed in the CIC tournament and made Eagle River the seventh seed.

Sydney Smith scored 15 kills for the Thunderbirds, with Falua Makhele dishing 17 assists and Lavren Laurvhn contributing 11 digs.

Wohrle racked a double-double with 13 kills, 13 digs and six aces for Eagle River, which also got a good match from Elexa Walker, who contributed 30 assists, four kills and three aces.
