A Wasilla man badly injured when his motorcycle struck a moose two weeks ago died at an Anchorage hospital late Monday, according to Alaska State Troopers.

John William Wysong, 38, was driving a 2003 Honda XR400R motorcycle on Pond Lilly Street in Wasilla on Oct. 17 when a moose calf ran onto the road, troopers said. Wysong, who was not wearing a helmet, struck the moose and was thrown from the motorcycle, troopers said.

A helicopter flew Wysong to Anchorage, where he was treated at Providence Alaska Medical Center. He died about 11:30 p.m. Monday, troopers said.
