Anchorage police said Tuesday they're looking for two vehicles in connection with the fatal shooting at the downtown nightclub over the weekend.

A fight broke out in front of Platinum Jaxx, a club at Sixth Avenue and I Street, about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, police said. Someone involved in the altercation pulled a gun and shot Said Beshirov, killing the 27-year-old, police said. Beshirov's friends told the Daily News that Beshirov confronted a small group of men who appeared to have struck a woman.

Police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said requests for video from witnesses' cellphones had been "fruitful," but he declined to elaborate or say how many videos or pictures homicide detectives received. In a written statement Tuesday, Parker said the detectives are now looking for the drivers and any passengers of two vehicles -- a white Jeep Cherokee and a red Dodge half-ton pickup -- seen at the club around the time of the shooting.

"Apparently the two vehicles drove off, but (detectives) are trying to determine who was in the vehicles and who was driving the vehicles," Parker said. "There are probable witnesses in those vehicles that we need to talk to."

Parker would not say if the detectives think occupants of either the Jeep or Dodge were involved in the shooting.

As of late Tuesday, there had been no arrests or suspects publicly named in Beshirov's death.
