Gold for Anchorage team

A second men's softball team from Anchorage took gold at the 26th Huntsman World Senior Games, held over two weeks in St. George, Utah. Two other Anchorage senior teams won second-place medals.

The Anchorage Glacier Kings, a 55-and-over men's team, took top honors in the C Division tournament. In 50-and-over play, the Alaska Kings, playing in the AA Division, won silver, while Alaska Gold Kings got their silver in the C Division.

The medal haul began the previous week when the 60-and-over edition of the Glacier Kings won gold.

In all, a record six softball teams from Anchorage competed in the Huntsman games, held Oct. 8 through Oct. 20 in the southern Utah desert. Most of players were part of the new six-team senior softball league begun last summer by the Anchorage Sports Association.
