UAF 2, Lake Superior 1 in a thriller

Published: November 2, 2012

The Nanooks won a thriller tonight when Colton Beck scored on the power play with just 11 seconds remaining to snag a 2-1 CCHA victory over Lake Superior State at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks.

Beck, who assisted on defenseman Colton Parayko's game-tying goal midway through the third period -- gee, not a bad night for Coltons, eh? -- helped the Nanooks improve to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the CCHA. His game winner came off assists from Michael Quinn and Andy Taranto.

Sean Cahill made 18 saves for UAF, which outshot the Lakers 39-19, including 17-4 in the third period.

Tough loss to take for Lakers goalie Kevin Murdock, the transfer from Minnesota State-Mankato who made 37 saves. Chris Ciotti's team-high fourth goal gave Lake Soo a 1-0 lead in the first period.
