Eighth grade election worker Jamonika Gibbs helps 6th grader Bryce Carter log in for a Youth Vote at Begich Middle School on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012. The school created a precinct environment for classes to stop by and let students vote in the presidential race, the congressional race, and on two ballot measures. One of the ballot measures created specifically for Youth Vote asked whether the voting age should be lowered to 16 for state elections. Statistics support that mock elections like Youth Vote lead to a higher percentage of adult voters and that Youth Vote participants influence their parents to get out and vote.
