— A 40-year-old man was accidentally shot in the arm by his cousin during a deer hunting trip Tuesday in Southeast Alaska, troopers say.

Troopers have not publicly identified the wounded man nor his 44-year-cousin. Both are Juneau residents who had been hunting on Chichagof Island, near Hoonah, the agency said.

The hunter was treated in Sitka for non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
