My, things got a bit testy in Colorado tonight

Posted on November 7, 2012

The Colorado Eagles beat the visiting Utah Grizzlies 10-1 in the ECHL tonight, and you will no doubt be shocked -- shocked, The Blog tells you! -- that things got a bit, well, combative.

From the 140 combined penalty minutes -- 12 roughing calls, six fighting majors, five slashing infractions, four cross-checks, four misconducts and two attempted spears. (At least that's what The Blog thinks he calculated -- that is one long digital summary to absorb) Man, it's like feelings were hurt, or something.

Hey, at least former Aces winger Kory Falite copped Utah's only goal.

Then again, Colorado's Riley Nelson bagged a hat trick, former Aces winger Jack Combs racked two goals, reigning ECHL Player of the Week Michael Forney had a three-point night and Trent Daavettila, who Aces fans might remember from the Kalamazoo K-Wings in the 2011 Kelly Cup Finals, had 1-3--4 totals.

Alas, poor Utah goaltender Ryan Donovan -- he had to eat all 10 Eagles goals.

The teams meet again Friday and Saturday nights in Colorado. Should be what an old refereeing friend of The Blog used to call a "Friendship Series.''
