In case you missed it Thursday, you've got one more chance to catch the Sublime tribute at Koot's this weekend. The cover band 40 Oz. to Freedom takes on the ska-punk group's catalog 9 p.m. Friday, $20 (21 and older). Visit koots.com for info. music

Local bands will walk the line Saturday, as Pros & Cons, Men With Guns, The Goat Rodeo, Eternal Cowboys and Kass Smiley cover songs by Johnny Cash, 9 p.m., Koot's, $5 (21 and older). Visit koots.com for info. 

Winter prep

Ready to hit the trails and slopes this winter? If not, maybe it's time to gear up at one of the many ski swaps popping up around town. Alyeska Ski Club and the UAA Ski Team host their annual Alaska Ski Swap, noon-5 p.m. Saturday, West High School gymnasium. Drop off your gently used gear to sell from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can also take your skis to the Service High School cafeteria from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday for the Service Country Country Ski Team Wax Clinic fundraiser. Donations accepted.

Ellis Paul has been a leading light in the New England folk-rock scene since the '90s, and the singer/songwriter recently released the album "The Hero in You." Catch him 8 p.m. Saturday at the Wilda Marston Theatre in the Loussac Library or 6 p.m. Sunday at Vagabond Blues, Palmer, both $25. Visit centertix.net for info.
