Letter: People’s voice wasn’t heard

I think that Charlie Huggins was a little off in his assessment of the election. The people did vote but I think that it was the voice of the Republican redistricting committee that he heard, not the true voice of the people.

Do people really want to give billions of dollars to multinational and foreign corporations that are making billions of dollars per quarter without asking for anything in return? Do you think that by giving them billions your gas bill will go down? I don’t think so.

As evidenced by the lease sale reported in this morning’s ADN, oil companies are investing in Alaska even with the current tax structure. If you do not want to give our oil away, then you should call, email or corner your senator before he runs off to Juneau to make deals with the oil lobbyists.
