Woman dies in Seward Highway crash Sunday

A woman died after being seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a crash on the Seward Highway near the intersection with the Sterling Highway, Alaska State Troopers report.

A Ford F-150 with two people aboard was headed southbound. The driver lost control, and the vehicle hit the guardrail then veered off the road, troopers said. Both the driver and passenger were injured and taken to hospitals in Anchorage, trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said in an email. The woman died after being transported, Peters said.

Troopers got a call about the crash at 1:30 p.m. The highway was closed for a time Sunday afternoon.
