Former Sens, Jackets G Leclaire retires

Published: November 13, 2012

Goaltender Pascal Leclaire, who last suited up for the Ottawa Senators during the 2010-11 season, has decided to hang up his pads.

According to NHL.com, the 30-year-old netminder decided to call it quits due to chronic hip problems which forced him to sit out all of last season. The Ottawa Sun added that the announcement came on Monday night on a French- language program on Canadian sports channel RDS.

Leclaire endured three separate surgeries, but was unable to recover sufficiently to return to action.

A former first-round pick (eighth overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2001, the Quebec native finished his career 61-76-15 with 10 shutouts, a 2.89 goals-against average and .904 save percentage with Columbus (2002-09) and Ottawa (2009-11).
