The snowboarding film "Resonance" is making the rounds across the country's art house theaters as part of Absinthe Films' Sphere of Influence Tour, which teams with local, environmentally based nonprofits. Teaming with the Alaska Center for the Environment, the movie screens 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Bear Tooth, $10. Visit for info.

Joy Kills Sorrow takes a bluegrass framework and dresses it in contemporary folk, and the Boston-based string band is winding its way through Alaska, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sydney Laurence Theatre, $27 and 6 p.m. Sunday, Vagabond Blues in Palmer, $25. Visit for info.

Tourney time

Tip-off for the 35th annual Great Alaska Shootout is Tuesday for the women's teams and Wednesday for the men and runs through Saturday, Nov. 24. This year's installment will have games broadcast on CBS Sports. Tickets are $20-$170. Visit for the full schedule at Sullivan Arena.
