Service-East wins

Service-East's Brenna Gaskov and Morgan Hill scored goals on stingy South-Bartlett goaltender Zoe Scherer to spearhead a 2-0 victory Thursday in a Cook Inlet Conference girls hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.

Scherer made 26 saves to keep her team in the game.

Gaskov scored a second-period, power-play goal off an assist from Bria Lindsoe and Hill added an even-strength goal off a helper from Leilani Blair late in the third period.

Service-East goalie Julia Miknich made five saves for the shutout.

BOYS PREP HOCKEY

Service 5, West 3

Howard Yawit scored one goal and assisted on three others Thursday night to help lift the Service boys hockey team to a 5-3 Cook Inlet Conference victory over West at Ben Boeke Arena.

Andrew Cummings and Braden Mitchell each furnished Service with one goal and two helpers, Leo Karcz generated one goal and one assist, and Tyler Miknich added a goal. Dustin Fritz made 20 saves for the Cougars.

Dawson Ellingsworth scored two goals for West, which also received a goal from Max Osgood and two assists from Kieran Kuiper.

Joe Chekan stopped 23 shots for the Eagles.

RIFLERY

Dimond 7, Service 0

Dimond's high-level consistency -- only 55 points separated its A team and C team scores -- earned it a 7-0 victory at Service in the final Cook Inlet Conference riflery match for both teams.

Dimond's Chelsy Devon led all shooters with a 290 on the A team and teammate Reniel Aljibe fired a 289. The 12 Lynx shooters averaged 278.25 points.

Loran Smith led Service with a 282.
