Anchorage's Summerhays is CCHA Goaltender of the Week

Published: November 19, 2012

Not a big surprise here, but a well-deserved honor -- Notre Dame goaltender Steve Summerhays of Anchorage today was named the CCHA's Goaltender of the Week.

Summerhays, a junior, stopped 54 of 56 shots in a sweep at Michigan -- the Irish won 3-1 and 4-1.

Summerhays is 7-3-0 with a 1.51 goals-against average, .939 save percentage and two shutouts. This marks the second time he has been CCHA Goaltender of the Week this season.

Pretty good season in that regard for Alaska connections: The previous Goaltender of the Week was UAF's John Keeney, and earlier in the season the honor went to UAF's Steve Thompson of Anchorage.
