Williams repeats as WCHA Rookie of the Week

Published: December 4, 2012

With UAA headed to Mankato, Minn., for a two-game WCHA series against Minnesota State-Mankato this weekend, Mankato freshman goaltender Stephon Williams of Fairbanks has been named WCHA Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.

Williams last Friday earned his first college shutout with 20 saves in a 3-0 win over Bemidji State and followed it up with 17 saves in a 6-1 win Saturday.

He's riding a four-game winning streak and, for now, is the clear No. 1 for the Mavericks. For the season, he's 4-3-1 with a 1.92 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.
