Another food truck opens for lunch

— We've mentioned before how the food truck craze that's spawned TV shows and websites tracking truck locations in other cities has been slowly finding a footing in Anchorage. In August, Daily News' Barry Piser profiled three mobile food vendors that began business in the past year, and that didn't include others roaming the city like the cupcake truck Tiers From Heaven.

While the nascent local food truck dining scene hasn't grown to the point of adding any entrants to the Daily Meal's list of 101 best food trucks in America, Anchorage is seeing a steady increase in the number of trucks setting up shop. Case in point: the simply titled Eat.

The truck has been serving sandwiches from Talkeetna to Seward for the past few months, but now it’s open for lunch in Anchorage during the week, 11-3 p.m. at Fireweed Lane and Eagle Street. The menu features items like a steak sandwich called the Dirty Yankee, a pulled pork one called the Drunkard and a sandwich with a black bean patty called the Dirty Hippie.
