GCI is speeding up residential broadband in Alaska
GCI recently launched re:D, the fastest residential download (50 megabits-per-second) and upload (5 Mbps) speeds ever available in the state.
"With re:D, GCI is redefining broadband in Anchorage, " said Paul Landes, senior vice president of consumer services for GCI. "Not only does re:D have more than twice the speed of our previously fastest plan, but it also has the most included broadband usage ever - 350,000 megabytes-per-month. By adding re:D to our service portfolio, GCI is addressing the growing consumer need for faster speeds and additional bandwidth."
GCI continues to deliver on its commitment of being Alaska's technology leader. With the 50 Mbps download speed, re:D is more than four times faster that the average broadband connection in the United States. "There are only a handful of consumer service providers in the U.S. that offer consumers speeds as fast as 50 Mbps. GCI is one of them, and Alaska's only one," said Landes.
re:D is available today in the Anchorage region from Girdwood to Peters Creek. Existing GCI broadband customers may need to exchange their modem device and should call GCI at 907-265-5400or visit www.gci.com/red for more information. GCI has implemented significant network upgrades to support re:D and plans to extend the service to additional markets in 2013.
A pioneer in bundled services, GCI is the top provider of voice, data, and video services to Alaska consumers with a 70 percent share of the consumer broadband market. GCI is also the leading provider of communications services to enterprise customers, particularly large enterprise customers with complex data networking needs.
