Looks like Waldrop will help out injury-riddled Aces

Posted on December 7, 2012

Appears our old friend Merit Waldrop, the former UAA skater who always seems to stay in good shape, will be helping out the Alaska Aces this weekend -- they've signed him.

Waldrop, 29, played one game for the Aces last season and, as coincidence would have it, two for the Utah Grizzlies, Alaska's opponent this weekend.

Waldrop also played one game for the Aces two seasons ago, and three seasons ago he played 20 games and earned 2-7--9 totals.

Aces center Bobby Hughes, injured in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Utah -- judging from the way he was walking stiffly afterward, looked like a back or hip injury -- has been put on reserve, so he's out for tonight's second game in the four-game series. Don't expect to see veteran defenseman Sean Curry, who also has been put on reserve. Do expect to see NHL Nate Thompson back since he's been activated.
