I beg to differ with Fil Pierce (Dec. 7); judges do not need more scrutiny, our governor does. The issue here, as Shannyn Moore brought out (Dec. 1), is not about all or many judges; it is just this judge — why were none of the other judges considered for this position not better qualified than an out-of-state judge who is under investigation for criminal behavior and who didn’t even apply for the position in the first place?
The value or evaluation of any other or all other judges is a different issue. This issue is why this particular person was selected and why do we let this sort of ploy go (almost) unnoticed? How is our governor helping the citizens of Alaska with these sorts of shenanigans? And why do we let him get away with it?
