Wine of the week: Scharffenberger Brut Excellence

Published: December 13, 2012

It's the time of year to add bubbles to your diet. Sparkling wine or champagne or pretty much anything with bubbles in it. You can do so much with the stuff. You can make drinks out of it, you can cook with it and, oh! can you spend money on it. But let's make it simple; just go get a bottle of Scharffenberger Brut Excellence. Bottle fermented and aged, it's a classic blend of 2/3 Chardonnay and 1/3 Pinot Noir. Creamy bright, firm, apples, toast and bread dough make up the flavors and aromas while great micro bubbles scrub away. It's delicious and quite habit forming -- but in a good way! Costs about $20.
