— All five starters reached double figures for the UAA men's basketball team Saturday in a high-scoring game against Northwest Indian College.

The Seawolves pounded Northwest Indian 111-81 in a nonconference game at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

Kyle Fossman scored a career-high 28 points, Liam Gibcus racked up 25 points and 11 rebounds for his third career double-double, Teancum Stafford poured in 22 points, Christian Leckband got his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Colton Lauwers chipped in 12 points.

The Seawolves put up 35 shots from 3-point range and made 14 of them, with Fossman leading the way with a 6 of 11 showing from long-range. The junior from Haines added nine rebounds and seven steals.

Playing its first game since Dec. 1, UAA (8-2 and the 25th-ranked team in NCAA Division II) took a 48-36 lead at halftime and then blew the game open in the second half. Fossman knocked down five 3-pointers in the second half to highlight the half.

The Seawolves recorded 28 assists on 37 field goals, getting six from Lauwers.

Northwest Indian (10-12), an unaffiliated team from Bellingham, Wash., got 22 points from Douglas Williams and 21 from Mike Schjang. J.J. Jack-Nixon, a Dimond High alum, scored seven points.

UAA trailed 15-12 early before Stafford came alive to spark the Seawolves, scoring 11 of his 22 points in the first half.

The Seawolves played with just eight men -- illness and injury sidelined Stephan Heard, Abebe Demissie and Collin Spickerman.

The teams meet again Sunday at 5 p.m. in an exhibition game that won't count on UAA's win-loss record.
