Report: Niners' Manningham has season-ending knee injury

Published: December 24, 2012

The San Francisco 49ers will apparently be without one of their top pass-catchers for the remainder of the season, with multiple reports stating on Monday that wide receiver Mario Manningham sustained a significant knee injury during the team's Week 16 loss at Seattle.

According to NFL.com, Manningham tore both the ACL and PCL in his left knee after being tackled by Seattle linebacker Leroy Hill in Sunday's 42-13 setback to the Seahawks. The offseason acquisition will require surgery that will keep him out of San Francisco's regular-season finale as well as the entire upcoming playoffs.

In his first season with the 49ers, the fifth-year wideout started 10 of the 12 games he played in and recorded 42 catches for 449 yards and one touchdown.

Having already qualified for the postseason, San Francisco can wrap up its second consecutive NFC West title with a victory over Arizona this Sunday.
