Figured this had to happen at some point, given former Alaska Aces winger Scott Howes' sizzling start in the Central Hockey League this season -- he has been signed to a tryout agreement by AHL Springfield.
Howes, the Kelly Cup MVP in 2011 on the Aces' run to the title, leads the CHL in goals and power-play goals, and is tied for sixth in points. In 22 games for the Allen Americans, Howes has racked 21-14--35 totals and a +9 rating, with 10 power-play strikes.
Howes played most of last season in the A, going 11-11--22 and +4 in 49 games with Bridgeport.
How's this for coincidence? Springfield's next game is Friday, when it entertains Bridgeport.
