Aces rookie defenseman Wrenn named to ECHL All-Star squad

Posted on January 3, 2013

Alaska Aces rookie defenseman William Wrenn of Anchorage today was named to the ECHL's All-Star squad for the game against the Colorado Eagles on Jan. 23 in Loveland, Colo.

Wrenn, 21, who ranks fourth among first-year defensemen in points with 5-11--16 totals, is one of nine rookies selected in a vote of coaches, general managers, team captains and media.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder, a San Jose Sharks draft pick, plays in all situations and has shown an offensive upside.

Wrenn also gained respect from his teammates last month when he dropped Stockton's Teigan Zahn with one right hand in Wrenn's first (and only, to this point), pro fight. Zahn had made his presence felt in the previous game against the Aces, chirping and challenging some of them, so Wrenn stepped up at the opening draw in the next game to answer the bell.
