North Pole's Copley is WCHA Defensive Player of the Week

Published: January 3, 2013

No shocker here -- Michigan Tech freshman goaltender Phoenix Copley of North Pole has been named the WCHA's Defensive Player of the Week.

All Copley managed last week was a combined 80 saves in back-to-back shutouts of Michigan and Western Michigan that earned the Huskies their first title at the Great Lakes Invitational in Detroit since 1980.

Copley was named MVP of the tournament after delivering the first consecutive shutouts by a Michigan Tech goaltender since the 1955-56 season.

All in all, though to top that.
