Aces coach Murray is ECHL All-Star Game bench boss

Published: January 4, 2013

Alaska Aces head coach Rob Murray added another gig today -- he'll be the bench boss for the ECHL All-Stars when they play the Colorado Eagles in the All-Star Game on Jan. 23 in Loveland, Colo.

Murray earned the position by virtue of the Aces owning the circuit's best record through games of Dec. 30. At 26-8-0 entering a game tonight in Stockton, the Aces remain atop the 23-league team.

Last season, his first with the Aces, Murray guided the club to the Brabham Cup as the league's top team in the regular season and was named the league's co-Coach of the Year.

At the All-Star Game, Murray's assistant coach will be Larry Courville of the Reading Royals, who own the second-best record in the league.

Murray in the All-Star Game will coach one of his own -- Aces rookie defenseman William Wrenn of Anchorage was named to the team on Thursday.
