Aces: More work for Burkie! (ECHL All-Star Game Nod)

Posted on January 7, 2013

You know, other than getting into work hours before practice and a game, doing a million things before and during either, working for hours after either and generally making Sullivan Arena or a road rink his home, Alaska Aces equipment manager Mike Burkhead doesn't do much.

Like sleep -- not sure he does.

In any event, Burkie just got more work! Psych!

Burkhead's fellow ECHL equipment managers have selected him to work the league's All-Star Game in Loveland, Colo., on Jan. 23 (and the skills contest the night before), marking the second time Burkhead has received that gig -- he worked the 2010 game in Ontario, Calif.

Anyhow, the selection of the 2011 ECHL Equipment Manager of the Year, in his fifth season with the Aces, makes it three Aces employees who will be at the All-Star Game. Rookie defenseman William Wrenn will be playing and Aces coach Rob Murray will be the bench boss for the All-Stars, who will play the Colorado Eagles.
