Re: letter of Jan. 7, wherein  a woman says that her nephew who was deployed to Afghanistan found he was unable to have breakfast in the mess hall because it was locked due to budget cuts. She thought all Americans should be outraged if our soldiers are going hungry while members of Congress, “the political elite,” are receiving a pay raise. 

Let’s assume that this is true. Then I’m certainly outraged. But shouldn’t the soldier’s Commander in Chief be outraged as well? I am sure he would not be having his breakfast while the soldiers under his command are not getting their breakfast. I saw him on television today. He didn’t look all that hungry.
