Drew O'Connell rules!

Posted on January 16, 2013

Well, color The Blog surprised -- turns out goaltender Drew O'Connell of Anchorage really did travel with the Ontario Reign.

O'Connell, who has helped out the Alaska Aces in the past when they were short-handed, last Saturday helped out the Reign when they suffered a goaltender shortage in Anchorage. All he did in his first pro start was stop a Zach Harrison penalty shot and beat the Aces 3-1.

Tonight, in Ontario, Calif., O'Connell stopped yet another penalty shot, this one by Chris Francis, and made 19 saves in a 4-1 win over Las Vegas.

Pretty nice stat line for Drew as a pro -- 2-0-0, 1.00 goals-against average, .944 save percentage and two saves on two penalty shots.

Nice.
