We knew the Alaska Aces were hoping to add several players to their lineup for a three-game road trip that opens Friday night in Idaho -- coach Rob Murray identified defenseman Mike Baran as one, and now, through the magic of reading, we've found another in forward Shawn Skelly.
Skelly, a second-year pro, has been loaned to the Aces by the Augusta RiverHawks of the Southern Professional Hockey League, according to the SPHL website, and he's got an interesting resume.
Skelly, 26, currently ranks second in that league in goals and sixth in points with 17-13--30 totals in 31 games. He also leads the league in shots on goal with 154.
And his Division III resume at Adrian College in Michigan is ridonkulous -- he's pretty much Adrian's all-time leading everything.
In 114 career games from 2007-11, Skelly, a 5-10, 187-pounder set all-time school records in goals (102), assists (128), points (230), power-play goals (47), game-winning goals (20) and shots on goal (593).
