Cards avoid arbitration with Boggs, Mujica

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals avoided arbitration with a pair of pitchers on Friday, signing right-handers Mitchell Boggs and Edward Mujica to one-year contracts.

Boggs posted a 4-1 record with a 2.21 earned run average while making a career-high 78 appearances last season, his fifth with the Cardinals.

Over 214 career games, including 15 starts, with St. Louis, Boggs owns a 13-12 record with a 3.80 ERA and four saves.

Mujica, 28, was acquired from Miami in a trade deadline deal and posted a 1.03 ERA in 29 games with the Cardinals.

The seven-year veteran has gone 17-18 with a 3.92 ERA over 316 games, including four starts, with the Indians, Padres, Marlins and Cardinals.
