Being a lifelong Democrat, I am surprised and very disappointed that Lindsay Holmes switched to the Republican Party after accepting donations and support while running as a Democrat. However, after some thought and on a positive note, I am now hoping her affiliation will lean toward a new transition in Alaska politics.

Surely her values have not changed overnight so perhaps she will be the kind of centrist that the Republican Party seems to be in short supply of at the time. Perhaps she will follow in Arliss Sturgulewski’s and Jay Hammond’s footsteps and influence decisions that are good for all Alaskans.
