— Anchorage police say a man found dead in his Midtown home Friday died as a result of homicide. A police spokeswoman named the man Saturday but said detectives were not releasing further information.

Roommates found the body of Trel Zawko, 21, inside the Crescent Drive home and called police about 1:30 p.m. Friday, police department spokeswoman Dani Myren said. On Saturday, Myren said homicide detectives believe someone killed Zawko. Myren said the detectives are not publicly discussing why they are considering the case a homicide and are not saying how Zawko died.

Myren also said she could not say what caused the case to be upgraded from a suspicious death investigation to a homicide.

"It's been an ongoing, evolving investigation," Myren said.

The detectives are not saying if they've identified a suspect or are looking for any persons of interest, Myren said.

"Ultimately, they have a responsibility to the investigation, and they have to find a good balance between the information that they release to the public, in the interest of forwarding the investigation, and the amount of information that they retain," Myren said.
